Your step-by-step guide to selling a horse at Goresbridge Horse Sales
Complete an entry form in order to secure your place. You will need the horse’s passport to hand to be able to complete the entry.
Pre-Sale Check List
Ensure the passport is easily to hand!
Watch out for an email approx. 2 weeks prior to sale, which includes the catalogue to obtain your lot number & instructions on media uploads.
Upload photos & videos showcasing your horse/pony (Deadline & instructions will be emailed). This will greatly aid the selling of your horse for the online market
Have the horse prepared for the performance ring e.g. schooling, training shows in advance of sale
Vetting completed by a vet on the panel within 14days of sale. The vendor makes direct contact with a vet to arrange.
Upload an image of the vet cert to online gallery prior to sale day. X-rays are recommended but not a requirement.

Day Before Sale Check List
- Vet cert & passport packed
- Horse washed and plaited
- Riding tack cleaned & packed
- Riding gear cleaned & packed
- Hay & bucket for water packed
- Rug (depending on time of year)
- Double check start times of performance ring & sale ring to plan your journey
Day of Sale Check List
- Arrive in sufficient time
- Collect the hip number from at the hut as you come into the yard
- Pop your horse in its allocated stable
- Check in passport & vet cert at the office & lodge your reserve
- Familiar yourself with the performance ring & sales ring. The performance ring & sales ring are ran in strict numerical order.
- Horses/ponies are required to pop a couple of jumps in front of viewers. This is also livestreamed to online purchasers. Fences can be adjusted at your discretion to best showcase your lot.
- All 3 yr old horses will be required to loose jump in the cages.
- Have someone allocated to lead the horse in the sales ring and the vendor must enter the sellers box through the office when the horse is being sold
- When your horse is sold, you must stay on the premises for 30mins from the fall of hammer
- If your horse is required to go for a re-vetting, the vendor must bring the horse to the vet
- Before you leave the premises, ensure the horse has hay, water & a headcollar. If horse is clipped, it must be left with a rug.
